WBAS Tasting 20 January 2007

The a tasting was held in the Society tasting room on 20 January featuring 5 American Pale Ales and 5 Brown Ales. Nine members participated in the evaluations. The RateBeer.com scorecard was used to evaluate all beers. This system is a 50 point scoring system allowing a maximum of 5 points for APPEARANCE, 10 points for AROMA, 5 points for PALATE, 10 points for FLAVOR and 20 points for OVERALL IMPRESSION. For each beer, individual scores, a panel average score, an adjusted average (eliminates the high and low score) and a score in the RateBeer format are provided.

In the American Pale Ale category Dominion Pale Ale from Old Dominion Brewery in Ashton, VA scored the highest followed by Stoudt's American Pale Ale, Smuttynose Shoals Pale Ale, Magic Hat Fat Angel and Mendocino Blue Heron Pale Ale

In the Brown Ale category, Avery Ellie's Brown Ale took top spot. Newcastle Brown Ale and Dogfish Head Indian Brown tied for second followed by, Samuel Smith Nut Brown and Green Flash Nut Brown Ale.
